SUMMARY
After nine years of work, researchers have developed a highly reproducible three-dimensional human brain tissue model capable of replicating complex neurodegenerative processes in Alzheimer’s disease. The engineered tissue model includes key Alzheimer’s-relevant genes and proteins, forms functional synaptic networks, and exhibits active microglial surveillance.
